about

Anxiety-rock from the twilight years of the 20th Century. Members of The Panic included Marijo Dunn (vocals), Jasmine Dreame Wagner (guitars), Dan Bailey (bass), Doug Hodges (drums), Sammy James Jr. (drums), and Stephen Dirtybomb (drums). Shortly after recording and self-releasing their self-titled album, members split off in various directions to perform in Cabinet of Natural Curiosities, The World/Inferno Friendship Society, and The Mooney Suzuki. "The Panic" was recorded in 1998 by Jay Braun (Norah Jones, John Spencer Blues Explosion, Fiery Furnaces).

lyrics

Pisces

He spent a slow life melting in Jersey
Red moon above like a traffic light
Waiting for beauty by the side of the highway
Searching for glory in a plastic case

Time surges by like a rapid invasion
Shuddering gently as the subway walls
Powder so sweet it had to be poison
He takes it all when his body calls

Wasted a while on the red plush staircase
In vomit stained corners and blacklight halls
Mind pulses deeply as the music invades him
Smoking his beauty in a bathroom stall

Green eyes like a pisces
Glossy as a magazine
He's found a pill for every ill
But he's still too pretty to believe

Still too pretty to believe
Still too pretty to believe
Still too pretty to believe
Still too pretty to believe

He spent a slow life melting in Jersey
Red moon above like a traffic light
Waiting for beauty by the side of the highway
Searching for glory in a plastic case

Green eyes like a pisces
Glossy as a magazine
He's found a pill for every ill
But he's still too pretty to believe

Still too pretty to believe
Still too pretty to believe
Still too pretty to believe
Still too pretty to believe
